Chapter V
Conclusion
Surface dressing as a method of black topping is one of the cheapest options available at our disposal and hence more suitable in the countries like Nepal . However we need to be very careful during design and construction stages of the job as it is sensitive to the weather conditions and accuracy of application rates of binder and aggregate.
If we study the above formula & rate of application fixed both for the aggregate & binder in this project, we find some difference. The method of calculation given above is only for general guidance. Hence it is the Engineer's in-charge of the project who has to decide on the application rate depending on his experience in the particular nature and location of the job.
Two different methods for calculating application rate of binder and aggregate proposed by G.P. Jackson and ND Lea and Associates have been discussed in Chapter 4. In Nepalese context, the later is found to be more practical and appropriate though it requires more input data.
